Idle Hands

The term “Idle hands are the devil's playground” always struck a nerve with me. What the hell should I be doing with them? I sat back and analyzed the phrase. For me, it meant that I am not using the talents that God has given me.

I grew up watching my mother make magic out of everything she touches. I’ve always admired that about her and was slightly jealous because I was just book smart. Surely education and mental aptitude will take you places but I often wondered "why aren't I as talented with my hands as my mother?"

Over the years I’ve had 7827 hobbies. I started reflecting and suddenly realize that I had a little

crafty knack. Doing hair, making wigs, freelance make up, cutting up T-shirts, decorating at home, gingerbread houses and making jewelry are just some of the things that I’ve done over the years. With these two hands. I recently had some life changes and I needed to find a trade/hobby. I picked up my tools and started making bracelets again. It’s created a whole new world of opportunity for me. It’s become of source of income but most importantly it connects me on a personal level to others that I may not have had the chance to have met. The chance to use my talent for his will.

Embracing my craftiness has been a long road however a road that I am proud to be on and can’t wait to see where it takes me. If you find yourself questioning your purpose, look into your gifts and talents. Use them to make a positive impact for yourself and those who surround you.
